IXS Election Procedures
Enclosed are the IXS Election Ballot and the
nomination list and biographical sketches
for the nominees for the IXS Executive Committee (EC). For each position the
candidates are listed alphabetically by their last names.
The election ballot is for the seven positions being contested. These
positions are the Vice Chair, the Secretary/Treasurer, and five EC positions
(Europe, North America, Other Countries, and two of the At-Large positions).
The elected Vice Chair will serve for three years and become Chair after the
XAFS XII conference.
Please note that all IXS members can vote for ALL positions on the
ballot. Matters such as geographical and specialization balance have been
addressed in the nomination process as specified in the charter.
We will have several ways to cast a ballot but please comply with the
procedures listed here so that the election can be held in an efficient
manner. Ballots can be returned by mail, by FAX, or by e-mail, or balloting
can be done at XAFS XI through midday Friday July 28, 2000. Ballots sent
by e-mail, fax, or mail must be received by July 20, 2000 to be assured
of being counted. All ballots will be counted by an IXS committee at
XAFS XI.
- If you vote by mail please do the following:
1. Mark your ballot in the spaces indicated but do not put your name
or any other identifying remarks on the ballot.
2. Place your ballot in an envelope that indicates IXS Ballot and
mail it to
- Lisa Tranquada
Brookhaven National Laboratory
Bldg. 510E
Upton, NY 11973
USA
3. On the outside of the envelope either in the front upper left corner or
in the upper middle of the back of the envelope, clearly PRINT your
name. This is essential to identify those who have voted to make sure
only eligible ballots are counted. Please remember to print clearly. People
from different countries use different script so their writing is not always
clear to everyone.
- If you vote by FAX, send the ballots to +1 631 344-4149. Include your
name on the cover sheet so a record can be kept of who has voted. A staff
member will then remove any identifying marks and place it in the file of
ballots.
-
If you vote by e-mail, send your vote to ixs@bnl.gov and indicate
IXS Ballot on the subject line. Again, any identifying information
will be removed from the ballot once the name of the voter has been recorded.
