The program McBook can be used to make a book of tables of x-ray cross-sections, much like the McMaster tables book, only readable. The program writes out a bunch of files in plain TeX format, one for each element and a main TeX file called mcbook.tex. After compiling, linking, and running the program, type "tex mcbook.tex" to convert all the TeX files to a binary file called mcbook.dvi. This file can then be sent to an output device like a printer, though often an intermediate step (like converting to Postscript) is required. Consult your local TeX wizard for help. McBook was written by Matt Newville at the University of Washington, and uses the subroutine MUCAL which holds all the important x-ray cross-section information from the tables of McMaster, et al. The MUCAL subroutine was written by Pathikrit Bandyopadhyay at the University of Notre Dame, and is also available as a computer program, which is often more convenient than a hard copy.
